Intercultural Bilingual Education: resistance practices for social transformation in Equator


Abstract:

This study aims to analyze the processes and the responses which have led to the creation of Bilingual Intercultural Education (BIE) as a space of signifying the Ecuadorian society. It also presents an analyzes of how actors, historic moments, and institutions have added to its development. To do this, a mixed methodology was used. It comprised documental research, a survey conducted to 413 teachers and students and 9 interviews to key people. Through this methodology, it was possible to determine the fundamental support to BIE as an intercultural resistance practice, despite the limited resources and support.
