Análisis de la Geodiversidad a partir de dos metodologías geoestadísticas aplicadas en el Ecuador para el sector del volcán El Reventador

Abstract:

Reventador volcano presents a geological diversity, understood as the variety of geological and morphological features, identified through the parameters of frequency and lithological distribution, their relationship, formation and geological evolution. The objective of this work is to show, compare and analyze the lithological variety and the presence of landslides in the study area, in order to zonify and define areas with different degrees of Geodiversity. The differences, similarities and links between two geostatistical methodologies applied in Spain (Carcavilla et al., 2007 and Lozano, 2013 and 2015) and replicated in the study area were compared. The Geodiversity analysis considered: i) the number of different types of lithologies (class denominators); ii) the number or relative abundance of these classes and iii) the spatial distribution of the lithologies and their relationship. Based on these values, the Theoretical Geodiversity Pattern was established, represented on a map that classified the degree of Geodiversity through three assessments: High Geodiversity, Medium Geodiversity and Low Geodiversity.
