Internet users and GDP in latin America: A 2005–2015 view
Abstract:
This paper aims to measure the impact of economic growth in the use of internet the Latin American countries. We estimated the relationship between internet users with gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, internet contents, infrastructure and political environment. The data were collected from World Bank Databases in the period 2005–2015. The technique used to estimate was dynamic panel data regression (GMM). We found that infrastructure and secured servers are relevant to explain the number of users in internet but a complex political environment and GDP per capita aren’t key elements to describe the number of users in Latin American countries.
