IoT Management Analysis Using SDN: Survey
Abstract:
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a promising technology capable of interconnecting billions of devices over the Internet. Many challenges in IoT arise due to the increase in the number and diversity of connected devices. The heterogeneity in IoT by the presence of a variety of technologies, protocols, and data representation formats, added to the massive connection of devices, makes the administration, performance adjustments and network configuration a task that requires scalability. Technologies such as software-defined networks (SDN) help to mitigate these problems. SDNs allow simplified network administration, offer programmability, flexibility, and agility, through the SDN controller that provides a global vision of the network topology allowing to create a fully programmable scalable architecture for the management of different IoT devices. This document provides a review of the architecture of SDN and IoT, focusing on managing IoT with SDN.
