IoT for Energy Saving at Homes in Santo Domingo de Los Tsáchilas


Abstract:

Energy saving is very relevant worldwide. Lower energy consumption reduces: environmental pollution, costs generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy. As a result, producing economic benefits for both countries and families that reduce their Energy. Home automation and the Internet of Things (IoT) are trends in several countries; They increasingly offer better services with the rise of Artificial Intelligence and its branches: Machine Learning and Deep Learning. This research aims to demonstrate that the automation of homes in the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas with IoT can reduce energy consumption and spending. The methodology used was experimentation, in a practical case applied to a model house that was automated for this purpose. The energy consumption in months before and after automation was taken as a reference. The results obtained showed that there can be significant energy savings, as long as there is an adequate programming of the devices, avoiding malfunctions and bad habits of the consumer.
