Is the spatial concentration of the cadets’ place of origin in the military air races static or does it show a trend over time?

Abstract:

This article attempts to demonstrate the existence of a spatial configuration of the cadets who graduated from the Military Aeronautical Careers. The statistical information comes from the Military Aviation School Superiory, National Secretariat for Higher education, Science, Technology and Innovation and Civil Registry, period 2001-2019, and is taken the province as the spatial unit of analysis. The computer tool MapChart allowed geospatial comparisons and to calculate pbkp_redictions, period 2020-2023, a time series analysis was applied. The main result reveals that most of the student population comes from the Sierra region, but with a marked downward trend, and conversely it is estimated that the cadets coming from the Costa region will increase in the future. There is evidence of a social differentiation in the educational offer managed by the Ecuadorian Air Force at the national level, and it is necessary to promote an institutional reconsideration of more inclusive selection mechanisms and to strengthen communication channels.
