Abstract:

This paper presents some of the results obtained in the Ph. D. thesis “Methodological contributions towards the establishment of rural tourism in the Republic of Cuba. Case study: tourist area of Viñales”, Camargo (2003). The main objective of this article is to know international customers’ preferences for the practice of rural tourism, modality which offers a wide range of possibilities for its introduction according to the natural-cultural potential of the area. In the questionnaire used, travelers were asked to rate a set of elements for the practice of rural tourism. Different statistical techniques as well as descriptive statistics are used for the analysis of the results of the questionnaire.
