It's worth: Development and evaluation of tools for animate presentations of projects

Abstract:

In order to evaluate contribution of animate presentations and some support techniques, this paper report background, method and resources developed, as well as two tests carried out with architectural projects. The presentations and tools tested were developed by the research team based on study of cinematographic scenes and technical procedures. The tools developed are adds-on for a popular 3D-modeling software and they includes; preparation of storyboards, library of 3D-objects, scripts to make camera movements, lightning and rendering. To evaluate application of resources it carried out a test with two groups of students in one-day exercise making an animate presentation. Also it evaluated communication through other exercise comparing a documentary of real building filmed by experienced filmmakers and two animate presentations of same building modeled. The results demonstrate good contribution of the tools developed and slight advantage of presentations, in particular related with qualitative features.
