Kawasaki disease associated with covid-19: Systematic review


Abstract:

Lately, children in the United States and Europe have pre-sented symptoms of systemic inflammation associated with Kawasaki Syndrome, according to the results of diagnostic tests, the hypothesis is considered that this pathology may be linked to COVID-19. The objective is: Define information on Kawasaki disease associated with COVID-19 in children. Methodology: The work is based on an integrated review of the literature obtained from different databases such as: Me-digraphic, Nature publishing group, scielo, sciencedirect, re-searchgate, academic Google and Pubmed. Original articles available in English and Spanish from the last five years were included. Results: 1264 articles related to the topic were identified, for the analysis 15 documents were selected through the reading of the abstracts where it is analyzed, the scientific basis, the objective and the main findings. Conclusion: Although the studies carried out indicate that there may be a relationship between Kawasaki syndrome and COVID 19, it cannot be assured that it is a complication due to a reaction of the immune system of children.
