Kinetics of the trypsinogen activation by enterokinase and/or trypsin: Coupling of a reaction in which the trypsin acts on one of its substrates

Abstract:

A global kinetic analysis of the mechanisms of trypsinogen activation by (a) both enterokinase and trypsin and (b) by trypsin alone is presented. In both cases, the activation is coupled to a monitor reaction, in which the trypsin acts upon one of its substrates. The kinetic equations of both the transient phase and the steady state are derived for these mechanisms. In addition, the corresponding kinetic equations are determined for the cases in which the condition of rapid equilibrium prevails.
