Knowledge Transfers and Absorptive Capacities as Determinants of Competitive Advantages: The Mexican Case


Abstract:

Using a quantitative methodology and in different stages, a linear regression model is applied to measure the capacity of knowledge transfer processes and knowledge absorption capabilities to generate competitive advantages in companies. The main objective is to determine the extent to which efficient knowledge transfer and absorption processes could determine the generation of competitive advantages. A data collection instrument is applied. It is concluded that the companies that generate the most significant competitive advantages are the manufacture of lighting accessories, the tobacco industry, and the manufacture of synthetic resins and rubber. Finally, it is concluded that knowledge transfers and the capacity to absorb knowledge explain 69.9% of the capacity of the companies to generate competitive advantages.
