Knowledge management in the industrial sector of ecuador


Abstract:

Knowledge management (KM) has been considered a competitive strategy that leads to business success. Because this issue is still considered a seed, it is important to analyze its behavior in an emerging country; Therefore, the objective of this work is to verify whether the knowledge management components differ according to the age and family nature of the company in the industrial sector of Ecuador. The methodology used is inferential statistics, for this non-parametric contrasts, Kruskal Wallis and Wilcoxon Range Sum (Mann-Whittney) were applied, in order to determine if there are differences in the different components. Primary (questionnaire) and secondary data (internal and external documents) of 274 companies were used. The results show that the dimensions of knowledge management: dissemination, storage and transfer of knowledge there are divergences regarding the age of the company. With respect to familiarity there is only disparity in shared interpretation. The contribution of this research is to provide information on the importance of knowledge management as a strategic competitive tool necessary for the growth of SMEs.
