LIFESTYLE MODIFICATION THROUGH ONLINE TOOLS IN PRIMARY HEALTHCARE
Abstract:
Introduction: Although it is important to address obesity, counseling in the primary care setting remains uncommon. Objective: to evaluate the response of physicians to implement an intervention that provides self-management support for weight loss. Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted, where three online lifestyle interventions were implemented in six primary care clinics. Results: non-referring providers reported a preference for dietary counseling (somewhat agree: 8%, 4/50; strongly agree: 0%, 0/50) versus 24% (4/17) and 6% (1/17). Conclusions: Online lifestyle interventions can provide a convenient and effective method for managing weight loss.
