Abstract:

The present study has been developed through qualitative research with the purpose of knowing what mobile learning is and how mobile learning is able to be implemented in the classroom with foreign language learning. The technology currently offers a range of applications that can be used by teachers and students in order to improve English language learning. However, some teachers say that smartphone and other mobile devices are distractors in class and they are not beneficial for learning. It is important to highlight that mobile learning is not a theory of learning but it is a tool that serves as a complement used by teacher to motive their learners in a dynamic learning. This study also shows how mobile learning is related to the theories of Behaviorism and Constructivism. The third domain of the Ecuadorian English Language Standards establishes the use of technology and resources effectively in the Ecuadorian high schools (Domain 3C) therefore it is necessary to highlight the importance of learning using educational tools the mobile devices. Finally, this study concludes that the implementation of the technology allows the learners to build up a new knowledge in a dynamic and motivated way, and through the educational applications that teachers can apply in class to reinforce the English language teaching, the learners receive a feedback immediately.
