Abstract:
The chronology and sequence of the dental eruption is a process in the human being, which can be observed in the temporary teeth just like in permanent dentitions. These dentitions can be affected due to different circumstances, which could be internal or foreign. This signifies that, any alteration in the sequences could cause different forms of pathological infections in the dental system. The objective of this research is to determine the chronological sequence of permanent dental development in children between the ages 5 and 12 in the “Unidad Educativa Fiscal, Borbon” and “Unidad Educativa Fiscal Mexico,” in Eloy Alfaro, Esmeraldas. To carry out this research, an observational cross – sectional descriptive study was performed on a study sample comprised of 446 children who were examined within their educational institutions. It is important to point out that the intra-oral clinical inspection was done to all of the members of the study by using the Logan and Kronfeld index and each of these observations were recorded and placed in their medical records. The data obtained were calculated for the arithmetic average and the standard deviation. Findings suggest that the first tooth growths were the ICI at 5.33 years old and the last tooth growth were the 2MS at 11.63 years old. The sequence of eruption appears to follow this pattern: Boys AS: 1,6,2,4,5,7 and AI: 1,6,2,5,4,3,7; Girls AS: 1,6,24,3,5,7 and AI: 1,6,2,3,4,5,7. To conclude, first molar emerges at 5.67 years old. In addition, tooth eruption normally develops earlier in girls than in boys
