La educación ambiental desde los medios radiofónicos enel cantón Cuenca


Abstract:

In the present, radio and television, publicity and popular programs do little to strengthen environmental education in the canton of Cuenca; it is due to this that this document will analyze this problem. I have proposed the subject matter for investigation on “The environmental education by means of radio broadcast in the canton of Cuenca”, period 2013. The objective is to find out the occurrence that environmental education has in media outlets. To find this out a method of investigation was implemented which presented a questionnaire to three-hundred radio broadcasting stations. The study showed that that majority of radio stations recognize that the three most listened to stations are: Fm 88, La Voz del Tomebamba, and OndasAzuayas but that these stations don’t contribute significantly to the broadcast of environmental education programs. The largest percentages of airtime belong to: music, news, showbiz, and culture. This indicates that most radio stations are not interested in environmental education subject matter and much less programs that deal solely with the subject in order to educate the public on the subject. Furthermore, presently, there exist a large percentage of listeners that don’t hold an interest in environmental education programs and don’t mind if the radio station of their preference does/doesn’t have environmental education programs and are turning a blind eye to the comprehension of exploitation of natural resources and the measures necessary to control them. Due to this, through this investigation it is considered highly important to educate our people on the degree of responsibility that radio stations have in not only informing people but educating them in order to preserve our ecosystem.
