A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF SUSTAINABLE HUMAN DEVELOPMENT EVALUATION METHODOLOGY USED IN VENEZUELA

Abstract:

In this paper we discuss the different approaches used in Venezuela by governmental and nongovernmental organizations to evaluate sustainable human development and capabilities at national and local levels. We ask whether one can integrate the different methodologies and approaches. We offer a critical oversight of the different methodologies proposed and we form comparisons in order to determine the relationship between these methods. This will be our basis to establish a conceptual link for the different approaches towards sustainable human development and capabilities. We discuss the problem of assessing sustainability with the available measurements, and some ideas towards this objective are advanced.
