La importancia de los capítulos ambientales dentro de los acuerdos comerciales de Ecuador: El caso del banano Ecuatoriano
Abstract:
Climate change and environmental deterioration are caused in part by economic factors present in each participant country. One human activity which currently affects the environment negatively is international trade. International trade encourages greater consumption amongst all parties involved. Trade increases economic activity in both participating countries. This increased activity negatively affects the environment in each country involved. Take for example, country A the exporter, as the potential market for a countries goods increases, production increases and natural resources are depleted at a faster rate than before international trade existed. In Country B who receives these goods, the availability of cheap imports produced abroad in Country A increases these citizens disposable income and more goods can now be purchased. Increased consumption in both countries affects the biodiversity of animals and plants in each country to the detriment of human welfare.
