Análisis de la evolución de la gestión, uso y cobertura vegetal del suelo del Bosque Protector Aguarongo y sectores colindantes, área de estudio: San Juan y Jadán


Abstract:

_ This research focuses on finding historical data regarding the management, use and land cover in the BPA (Bosque Protector Aguarongo), located in the province of Azuay–Ecuador; in what refers to techniques, technologies and traditions of land management. Using as bibliographic research methodology and in situ observation, conducting surveys to forest users and application of geographic information systems for the production of thematic maps, achieving the following results: the forest is a means of livelihood for nearby communities as they obtain timber and medicinal resources of the same considering that historically communities have dedicated themselves to planting species such as corn, peas, potatoes and fruit trees for household consumption and a lower proportion for the local market; also the population has sought ways to recover the eroded soil, predominating planting hedgerows as preferred method. The search of fertile land and obtaining grass for cows and sheep are the favorite species for livestock, also influence the advance of the agricultural frontier causing soil loss, which results in erosion, it affects the stability of the forest. The contribution of this research is the generation of map use and land cover, slope map, map of environmental units and map reception capacity serving for the analysis of the evolution of land use in the BPA that serve as a basis for decision-making of the corresponding story GAD's in mitigation and conservation of natural areas.
