Análisis de la exportación del atún ecuatoriano hacia la Unión Europea en el período 2014-2020

Abstract:

The present titration work analyzes the exports of Ecuadorian tuna to the European Union within the framework of the free trade agreement signed between the country and this commercial block. Ecuador is the second producer of canned tuna in the world and its largest customer in the European Union is Spain, a country that is also Ecuador's competitor in the fishing and processing of this product. According to the European Union, the main objectives of the trade agreement with the Andean countries are: to improve trade between the two regions; develop and modernize the economies of these countries and help local companies compete internationally. In addition, Ecuador is currently classified as a middle-high income country, which means that, as of 2015, it is no longer eligible for unilateral trade preferences under the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP). The signing of an agreement with the EU meant that Ecuador could avoid losing competitiveness in the European market in relation to Colombia and Peru.
