Abstract:

Notions of urban centrality were born in the Global North based on its history, needs and goals. Latin America’s urban reality cannot be ignored in approaching the study of centrality across the region. This research reviews the pertinent paradigms from the Global North and then compares and contrast them with the experiences of Bogota and Lima. It concludes by recognizing the similiarites and differences between these two parts of the world in an attempt to reformulate ideas about centrality in Latin America.
