La producción legislativa representativa de las minorías migrantes como un determinante en la elección de asambleístas del exterior (2009–2021)

Abstract:

This research analyzes the factors that affect the reelection of assembly members from abroad in Ecuador, especially the factor of representative legislative production. Due to the characteristics of the constituents of these legislators, the electoral or political analysis should not be the same as when speaking of representatives of Ecuadorians who live within the country. Bearing in mind this empirical output, this research uses a nested analysis combining quantitative and qualitative components, testing the correlation between reelection and substantive legislative representation, as well as some perceptions of the actors involved in this extraterritorial candidacy right. The findings suggest a strong relationship between the quality of the legislator’s proponent in motions of migrant interest and their ability to be reelected, as well as a strong importance in the constituent service and inter-institutional work.
