Las Microfinanzas y su contribución al desarrollo local del barrio Cristo del Consuelo. Caso de estudio: mujeres de lucha.


Abstract:

The following research work is based on the study of the organization Wrestling Women that was born from the need of a group of Afro-Ecuadorian women to combat the threats that existed in the Cristo del Consuelo sector such as intrafamily violence, discrimination, lack of employment and poverty. The main objective of this work is to analyze the importance of microfinance within the organization and what has been the contribution to the local development of Barrio Cristo del Consuelo. The method that was used was through data collection from primary and secondary sources, then person-to-person interviews. The research design was of a mixed type: qualitative and quantitative. The population considered for this study are Afro-Ecuadorian women who live in the Cristo del Consuelo neighborhood of the city of Guayaquil. To select the sample, the Afro-Ecuadorian “Women of Struggle” was considered, made up of 80 women between young and old, being also the only existing association in the sector. Resulting in that microfinance has benefited the Women of Struggle Association as well as each resident of the sector in terms of improvements in consumption, access to education, health services and access to housing, providing them with greater independence inside and outside of the home allowing them to obtain surpluses that are used in the reinvestment of their enterprises and in the satisfaction of their own needs and those of their family. Resulting in that microfinance has benefited the Women of Struggle Association as well as each resident of the sector in terms of improvements in consumption, access to education, health services and access to housing, providing them with greater independence inside and outside of the home allowing them to obtain surpluses that are used in the reinvestment of their enterprises and in the satisfaction of the own needs and those of their family.
