Late Paleozoic radiolarians from the polyfacies formations of the Uralian foredeep

Abstract:

Stratigraphic and facies distribution of radiolarians within the interval from the Gzhelian Stage of the Upper Carboniferous to the Kungurian Stage of the Lower Permian in the Cis-Ural foredeep are considered. The interrelation between facies and specific features of radiolarian fauna is analyzed. In the longitudinal direction, the area of radiolarian distribution is limited by the foredeep boundaries. Its latitudinal interval coincides with the southern part of the foredeep below 57° N in the north. It is supposed that this latitude bordered the northern thermocline, which served as a paleoclimatic barrier to the dispersal of radiolarian biota northward.
