Lean Six Sigma Aplicado a la Reducción de Riesgos Sísmicos. Caso de Estudio en Ecuador

Abstract:

Ecuador is located in the area called Ring of Fire, why is constantly exposed to the presence of seismic events, however despite the threat has to face the country, there have been no further progress in the prevention of seismic risks, resulting in a high cost of human lives and infrastructure. Faced with this problem, and in order to reduce the level of vulnerability of the population, the following study proposes applying the approach Lean Six Sigma as a tool for prevention of seismic risk, using the methodology of problem solving called DMAIC (define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control). To better explain this method, a case study in Ecuador where they developed each of these stages was performed. In the end it is concluded that the proposed methodology is fully effective to improve the responsiveness of a country facing a natural disaster such as an earthquake.
