Lifestyles and self-care in nursing inmates of an ecuadorian hospital
Abstract:
Introduction: Self-care within the pro-motion of health is focused as a way to build a healthy life, providing essential components to lifestyles, the same ones that cause changes in the behaviors of individuals to promote habits that enhance health, safety and wellness. Objective: To determine the relationship between lifestyles and self-care in Nursing interns of the Vicente Corral Mos-coso Hospital in the city of Cuenca, Ecua-dor. Materials and Methods: A study with a correlational scope, a cross-sectional cohort and a quantitative approach, with a finite population of 70 nursing interns. To collect self-care information, the questionnaire on “The level of self-care according to Dorothea Orem” was used, with a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.80; for lifestyles “Nola Pender’s (1996) Lifestyle Profile (FIFO-I)”, with a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.89. Results: They presented a healthy lifestyle with 90.0%, when analyzing the dimensions of this variable, the dimensions of interpersonal support and self-actualization predominate with 95.7% and 98.6%. In addition, a high level of self-care was obtained with 67.1%, so it was evident that the dimension that predominated was that of interpersonal relationships with 91.4%. Conclusions: Regarding the relationship between self-care and lifestyles, no sig-nificant relationship was found (p> 0.05). Key words:.
