Liquid H 2S scavenger performance at hydrodynamic gas conditions
Abstract:
This article discusses a project in northern Venezuela developed to evaluate different hydrogen sulfide (H <inf>2</inf>S) liquid scavengers in a gas pipeline that transmits 8.3 MMCFD (23.49 × 10 4 m 3/d) of gas. The purpose was to test new technologies designed to treat natural gas systems of 40 to 60 MMCFD (113 × 10 4 to 170 × 10 4 m 3/d) capacity with an H <inf>2</inf>S content <100 ppm. The average operational conditions of the test pipeline were 120°F (49°C), 100 psi (0.7 MPa), 6.6% carbon dioxide (CO <inf>2</inf>), and 40 ppm H <inf>2</inf>S. The performance of each product was determined by the decrease of H <inf>2</inf>S content of the gas at the end of the pipeline. Liquid specimens, collected downstream of the injection point, were tested to measure their corrosivity and absorption capacity.
