Load Management Design Methods by Displacement and Affectation in Ageing Level of Distribution Transformers

Abstract:

This research analyses distribution transformers and a useful life extension impact through two proposals concerning a change in residential customers consumption behaviour: load management by displacement, or a reduction in consumption in 26,386 subscribers from the utility 'Corporación Nacional de Electricidad (CNEL) Guayas-Los Rios', in Puntilla-Samborondón counties. This method allowed the evaluation of the annual equivalent acceleration ageing factor and loss of life percentage of the solid insulation in the existing loadability condition, as well as when applying load management proposals, and obtaining the accumulated number of faults and time, which is achieved over 100% of the useful life of the insulation. Finally, when evaluating the acceptance potential of proposals, an increase in the useful life can be achieved by modulating residential users' consumption behaviour.
