Long Distance Through Metal Wireless Power Transfer System


Abstract:

In this paper, we present the design and development of a 1 m distance through metal wireless power transfer system. The system harvests 231 μ W through a l-mm thick aluminum box that is located at a distance of l m from the transmitting coil. Our system operates at 110 kHz and uses a custom designed transmitting coil: a magnetic dipole of 60 cm height and 11.5 cm diameter. The receiving coil has a size of10 mm × 10 mm × 2 mm and is enclosed inside a l-mm thick aluminum box. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of wireless power transfer through metal at distances up to 1 m.
