A Description of LIDAR Software for Shooting the Shower

Abstract:

Since June 2005, we successfully operate shoot the shower (StS) software during air fluorescence runs at the Los Leones and Coihueco LIDAR stations. Built from a collection of TCP socket servers and clients, the software monitors T3 events from the SD and FD. When large hybrid and stereo events occur, the programs are responsible for setting up laser shots along the shower trajectories. This note describes the logical and physical layout of the StS software. We discuss the performance and reliability of the components, and consider several refinements that will be implemented during subsequent LIDAR runs.
