Los ecuatorianos mayores de 14 años de edad que no saben leer y escribir: Un estudio de aspectos claves

Abstract:

This study provides an analysis of key aspects that comprise the profile of the Ecuadorian population aged 15 years old and over who do not know how to read and write. The approach of the study was centered on a multidimensional statistical analysis. Available data from the National Survey of Employment, Unemployment and Underemployment of Ecuador, conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses in 2016, was utilized as the main source of information. The 2016 survey suggested that the equivalent percentage of the illiterate population was 8.63%; therefore, these data indicate that the population under examination has decreased considerably in the last ten years, which means Ecuador has undergone a significant enhancement in terms of literacy over this period of time. The results, drawn from the hierarchical analysis, may be key when creating policies, educational campaings, and special, nationwide programs focused on reducing and eliminating illiteracy in Ecuador.
