Low-Cost IoT Platform for Telemedicine Applications

Abstract:

The current pandemic had put health services to the test, hampering medical care and access to various health services in Ecuador. The project developed is a home-centered telemedicine system with cloud management and IoT devices. The user’s BPMs and SpO2 levels are measured using a low-cost wearable circuit and sent via Bluetooth to an Android TV app. Then, the data are uploaded to the cloud and analyzed by health professionals, who can send prescriptions to the user. A survey of health professionals has been conducted to assess the value of the system. Of this sample, 88.5% would be willing to implement the system in their work, 92.4% think that the data shown are important to make a medical assessment, and 76.9% believe that the tools of the system are useful for the medical sector.
