M2M technology for bus fleet management. Case study: A college transportation system


Abstract:

Machine to Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) allow cost reduction in telecommunications systems. Besides, the adaptation of conventional devices enhances functionality and maintenance in different systems. This paper describes a pilot plan to provide a real-time bus location for a college transport system in order administrators can schedule routes based on travel criteria. In this case study, the reports generated by bus locations are stored on a server to analyze routes for managing path options. Complement tools could be the continuous education to bus drivers for avoiding transit fines as well as digital surveys completed by users for feedback of those who live the experience.
