MSMES AS A JOB OPPORTUNITY FOR PROFESSIONALS GRADUATED FROM THE UNIVERSITY

Abstract:

The essence of this study is to identify MSMEs as a job opportunity for professionals graduated from the University. The unemployment rate is a threat faced by many economies, and specifically, the Ecuadorian one. The study used a set of 384 companies among which are registered in the business database in which the students of the University of Guayaquil do professional internships, in addition to those that are registered in the professional associations of Ecuador. The empirical evidence that emanates from this study confirms the theoretical literature presented by Birch that affirms that the result found that MSMEs performed better than large companies in terms of job creation. The implication of this study is that any interven¬tion aimed at reducing unemployment should focus on MSMEs, as this study confirmed that they are actually a net creator of jobs in 75% of cases.
