Manejo quirúrgico periodontal de la erupción pasiva alterada
Abstract:
Problem. The altered passive eruption or lack of migration of the gingiva at the apical level produces a decrease in the size of the clinical crown that is generated after the active eruption ends, producing an aesthetic defect on the person and third parties that in turn can be caused by different factors. Thanks to different studies, it was shown that people with EPA are more prone to developing gingivitis. This work describes how, through periodontal surgery, excess gum can be removed on the crowns of teeth and their aesthetics can be restored. Objective. Define periodontal surgical management techniques for altered passive eruption. Material and method. The problem to be investigated was carried out by collecting information in the period 2021-2022 through a systemic review of exploratory, documentary, retrospective and descriptive type based on a review of scientific literature through the keywords “Altered passive eruption, gummy smile, periodontics”. Seventy articles collected from the academic Google search engines, heaven, PubMed and periodontology 2000 were analyzed, of which 37 articles were analyzed. Conclusion. EPA is a pathology of unknown origin that presents a greater predilection for the female sex compared to the male and in the same way to the dark races with mestizo that can be treated in each of its classifications in an assertive way by a series of periodontal surgical treatments.
