Manga gástrica laparoscópica y remisión de comorbilidades de la obesidad, en clínicas y hospitales de la ciudad. Cuenca, período 2006 – 2011


Abstract:

Objective: To determine the efficacy of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) on remission of comorbidities of obesity in clinics and hospitals in Cuenca city, period from 2006 to 2011.- Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive quantitative study of the clinical, with a universe of 180 patients. The instrument was a form. The results were processed in SPSS 15.0.- Results: LSG is a procedure that increases annually, was performed in 141 women and 39 men, with a ratio 3.6 to 1 and between 18 and 56 years (mean 34.3 years). 72.2% had some kind of comorbidity, with average BMI of 36.71 kg/m2 (26.8 - 48), showing a percentage decrease in BMI from 19.2% in the first semester and 22.9 % in a year. It was observed that in hypertensive patients under treatment, remission was 24.1% in the first semester and 65.4% in a year. In terms of diabetics with hypoglycaemic medication, 15.4% achieved remission in the first semestre and 53.3% in a year. In cases of hypertriglyceridemia, remission was 42.6% in the first semester and 79.3% in a year, while pacients with hypercholesterolemia, submitted 59.4% in the first semester and 66.7% in a year.- Conclusions: LSG is effective in the first semester in the reduction in BMI, blood pressure, triglycerides and cholesterol, while the effectiveness at one year is in the values of BMI, glucose, triglycerides and cholesterol (p <0.05 ).AU
