Manifestaciones depresivas en adultos mayores y su incidencia en las actividades funcionales de la vida diaria.
Abstract:
Currently, as time passes by, life expectancy has increased exceeding the 60 years of age. For this reason, it is necessary to preserve the quality of life of the group people who live through a stage well known as older adulthood. This being said, aims to such topics as: self-care, physical-, emotional- and mental health to be studied and developed. Thus, we proceed to analyse the diverse formulations that emerge from biology, sociology and psychology, in order to reach a conjugation that encompasses these aspects. This project is carried out under the discipline of psychoanalytic orientation, which reflects an innovative view regarding the subjectivity of people belonging to this age group. Which understand such as: the physical changes that lead to psychological alterations, as well as stressful situations, significant events and contingencies with traumatic consequences. Likewise, it is worth emphasizing the importance of the setting bonds, daily life activities, personal experiences and what elders see as the proximity to death in their life. To conclude, we worked with an analysis matrix based on the concepts elaborated along this thesis. In order to develop this project, three elders belonging to the same gerontological institution were selected as our cases. Regarding the methodology, depressive manifestations were identified, with their different modalities derived from their speech; based on the interviews executed. This matrix shows aspects such as significant events that may refer to the current situation of our subjects. This being said, topics associated with family relationships such as: parents, spouses and children were noteworthy. Moreover, social environment took place in this analysis, that is: friends and members of the gerontological institute. Finally, it was established how the previously mentioned manifestations affect the activities of these people's daily life.
