Mathematical Analysis of the Ceramic Designs of the Pre-Columbian Culture of Ecuador Trough Ethnomodelling with a Sociocultural Approach
Abstract:
Ethnomodelling is considered as a conjunction between mathematical modelling and ethnomathematics in its social, cultural, and historical dimensions. Latin America is a favorable region to insert this methodology, thus optimizing the learning of mathematics in contexts of diversity, especially in the Andean region, where similar realities and scenarios are shared. This chapter aims to elaborate a theoretical and didactic proposal, based on archaeological data on the ceramic designs of pre-Columbian cultures of Ecuador by considering the geographical situation close to the zero parallel, the astronomical, agricultural, and multi-climatic peculiarities. This study aims to bkp_rediscover them under an approach that is not exempt from myth and other forms of sensitivity regarding the understanding of the world that defines the Andean and Latin American ethnic groups. Ethnomodelling will allow a methodological proposal to …
