Mathematical softwares in engineering careers: A strategy for its implementation


Abstract:

This research proposes a methodological strategy for the coherent implementation of mathematical software in engineering careers based on the integration of the assimilation of mathematical content with the solution of problems specific to the profession. The strategy was applied by professors of the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences of the University of Guayaquil, in the teaching of subjects of the mathematical sciences of the Software Engineering and Engineering in Networ­king and Telecommunications careers. Through statistical tests of comparison of means and non-parametrics of goodness of fit, it was obtained that the strategy has a remarkable positive effect in the academic results and its development of profes­sional competences and not so much in the motivation of the students. A high level of satisfaction was verified on the part of the teachers who applied the strategy, who provided suggestions for its improvement.
