Matter profile effect in a neutrino factory

Abstract:

The matter profile effect in a neutrino factory was studied. A method involving a Fourier-series expansion of the matter profile function was also proposed. It was found that the matter profile effect, the effect of a matter density fluctuation on the baseline, is very important to estimate the parameters in a neutrino factory with a very large long baseline.
