Maximization of power system loadability by optimal FACTS allocation
Abstract:
In this paper, maximizing power system loadability is achieved through determining the optimal FACTS allocations. Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator, TCSC, and Unified Power Flow Controller, UPFC, are chosen and implanted in Continuation Power Flow, CPF, merged with Improved Moth Flame optimization, IMFO, technique. Single and multi-objective functions are formulated to check the developed algorithm performance. IEEE 30-bus system is used for validation, where the obtained results show the effectiveness and powerful of the algorithm for maximizing the power system loadability, reducing power losses, and minimizing voltage deviation & voltage stability index.
