Mejoramiento de la eficiencia térmica en el sistema de calentamiento de agua en la piscina del Círculo Militar ubicada en la ciudad de Quito.


Abstract:

This study has been done both theoretical and experimental analysis, for the thermal efficiency of the indoor pool heating system, at “Círculo Militar” located in Quito, by means of establishing the improvement of current operational parameters and proposing the use of a thermal blanket, to reduce the heat losses and get an energy saving. The loss of thermal energy is due to the heat transfer by conduction, convection and radiation through the walls of the swimming pool, in addition to the water evaporation process from the vessel toward the environment; these losses are able to reach its decreasing with the use of a thermal blanket on contact with the water surface. The analysis started with a study of the amount of power required to maintain the water temperature at 31 ̊ C, as well as the determination of the quantity of energy lost through the walls of the pool and the evaporation process. The amount of energy saved is quantified according to the use of a blanket; it was carried out an economic analysis and the feasibility of its implementation, a proposal that will allow an increase of the efficiency of the heating water process, improving the operational parameters for itself. To sum up, the most important conclusions and recommendations achieved during this job are presented at the end of this study.
