Method for Improving Battery System of the Medium Power Electric Traction System


Abstract:

This paper describes the characterization of elements and improving of battery system of a medium power electric traction system of electric vehicle (EV) present in the market. Based on the results obtained with the original batteries, one solution is proposed to improve the weight of the battery considering a methodology in function of the change of battery types. For this work, a Chok S2 vehicle model is used, for the characterization are considered the type of traction system, control method, the converter topologies, type of electric motor, and battery PSIM is used. The results and validation of method proposed evaluate the application and functionality of the EV based on the weight and autonomy of the vehicle on established routes in the city of Cuenca Ecuador.
