Methodological proposal for the evaluation of agricultural fairs as tourist product. Case study the agroturism fair of San Jacinto de Balzar, province of Guayas - Ecuador

Abstract:

The Rancher Association of Balzar performs every year, during August, the Livestock Fair San Jacinto of Balzar. This fair has been carried out due to the efforts of their partners, and had always obtained positive results. Despite the above, the people responsible of carrying out this event have not implemented any plans for their respective organization and marketing. The present work proposes to make the current diagnosis of the fair as a basic input for proposals of plans for improvement and marketing of this event. This diagnosis was made through an adaptation of Community Characterization Methodology made by Carla Ricaurte (2009). The analysis of the fair development was made using an adjustment of Bauerochse and Barbosa Methodology (2006). As part of the compilation of primary information, surveys were made to the demand of this type of events.
