Microbiological profile and antibiotic resistance in the pediatric service of a private Clinic, 2016
Abstract:
Objetive: To describe the microbiological and antibiotic resistance profile in the pediatric department of the Jesús del Norte Clinic, 2016. Materials and methods: A descriptive case series study was designed. The study was carried out in the Pediatric Department of the Jesús del Norte Clinic. Results: 1264 samples of patients <15 years old with positive cultures of urine, feces, blood and pharyngeal secretion were analyzed. 67.7% were in <5 years and predominated in women with 59.22%. The most frequently isolated germ was Escherichia coli with 46.68%. By type of sample the m o s t f r e q u e n t w e r e: I n C o p r o c u l t u r e: enteropathogenic Escherichia coli, Uroculture: Escherichia coli, Blood culture: Staphylococcus epidermidis and in pharyngeal secretion: Staphylococcus aureus. The presence of 105 cases (7.27%) of E. coliESBL in urine cultures drew attention. Conclusions: The Positive isolated were more frequent in women, in children under 5 years, attended in emergency and stool sample. Appreciating high frequency of resistance to first and second line drugs in various etiological agents isolated in the samples.
