Missing person’s location system based on IoT and cloud computing (Case study: Quito)

Abstract:

This article proposes QSSC (Quito Smart Safe City). A prototype for the location and early warning system of missing persons. The system uses a distributed mobile architecture that allows the community to be informed about a disappearance and, if possible, to attach multimedia evidence to help identify and locate the victims in a geographical range adjustable to a city. IoT communication is used. The exchange of information is executed through the Message Queuing Telemetry Transport Protocol (MQTT) which, together with the advantages provided by the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud, allows for real-time exchange among all those involved. A light and timely application that consumes very few resources in the cellular device and, in addition, carries out an efficient information management, based on Crowdsensing, consenting to the support of the decision-making process to arrive at an effective solution to the incident.
