Mobile Unit for Agricultural Mechanization, an experience of linking with rural communities in Ecuador

Abstract:

Rural communities demand for their agricultural tasks the incorporation of technology and mechanization, that allows them to carry out their work in a more efficient, safe and timely manner. Based on this premise, the project called the Mobile Unit of Agricultural Mechanization was proposed. It was carried out in the community of Paipayales. This community belongs to one of the most important cantons of the province of Guayas, is productive activity is rice cultivation and is located in the coastal zone of Ecuador. There we worked in the area of agricultural mechanization, where after making several visits and technical inspections, it was decided to repair one of the rototillers belonging to that community. The agricultural equipment had the transmission system damaged and had not been able to be repaired, due to lack of knowledge and financial budget. A process of evaluation, disassembly, purchase of spare parts and finally, the ultimate assembly of all the parts, change of bearings, retainers, insurance and wedges, for left and right wheels was carried out. In addition, a chassis replacement was performed. Power-up and equipment operation tests were conducted on site and commissioning for work on one of the producer's plots. In the end, both the beneficiaries of the Paipayales communities and others received workshops for the agricultural management of their crops. As well as a technical instruction for the care of the repaired rototiller.
