Model and simulation of the gate system for luggage rack on an urban public transport vehicle

Abstract:

The objective of this article is to model the mechanism of a gate in the baggage section of an urban public transport vehicle. The model corresponding to this mechanism responds in a general way to the model of a four-bar articulated mechanism. This model considers the kinematic and dynamic analysis, using the closed vector loop method to represent the closed sum of certain vectors; such as the bars of the mechanism. Additionally, the dynamic analysis of the mechanism must be described by the equations corresponding to Newton's second and third law of motion developed for each mechanism element. These equations have been solved using MATLAB software, those results were taken as theoretical, and were compared with those obtained by a simulation using ADAMS software, object-oriented design software. The results obtained have a low error percentage. The results obtained are useful to make a more detailed design of the mechanism, allowing to optimize the force required to produce the movement and the trajectory that describes it.
