Modeling of IPFC in NEPLAN for Power System Control: A Simple Approach

Abstract:

This paper proposes an easy modelling for Interline Power Flow Controller (IPFC) in NEPLAN software. This model can be used in power flow analysis of power systems which include such a device. It is designed so that it can be added to various case studies without excessive calculations. It depends on power injection approach, simply a voltage source and an impedance, which facilitate controlling either injected active power or injected reactive power to the system, or both. This model is tested on IEEE 30-bus and IEEE 14-bus standard systems to assure the robustness and effectiveness in different analysis cases. Besides, for each case, the test conditions are changed so that the model is tested in multiple cases, and its quality is guaranteed for purpose of different power system analysis.
