Modelos geomecánicos del macizo rocoso en la mina de cromo Merceditas

Abstract:

The Merceditas mine is found in a zone of great postmineral tectonic activity, that outcrops in the southern limit of the ophiolite block Moa-Baracoa, in the contact of the ultramaphites with the gabroes. The mineral field is divided into five structural blocks limited by the systems of faults that penetrate the mineral bodies disposed spacially in the form of lens. The present rocks in the area are peridotites, serpentinized peridotites, dunites, gabroes and cromites. Through an integral study that included experimental form works, in situ and of laboratory, it was possible to establish, from the physical-mechanic properties, the evaluation of the joints and the more common structural-mechanic comportment of the mass, the geomechanical models.
